Falling in Love
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
You quietly came into my life,
Took my face in your hands;
Softly kissed my lips,
And of me, made no demands.
You were my strongest champion,
Daring any to cast a stone;
You believed in me when I could not;
You gave my heart a home.
You stood by and watched me grow,
Picked me up when I fell;
You were proud to be my friend,
And gently drew me from my shell.
You never tried to make me be
Something only you could see;
I was never a possession or a toy,
With you, my heart was always free.
You came so quietly to me,
I look back now, in sweet surprise;
How easy it was to fall in love,
And look at life through your eyes.
And if this journey's just beginning,
How much better it will grow;
For this feeling keeps on spreading,
As your heart I get to know.
