Remembrance
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
Remember white, cotton clouds
Playing in a summer breeze;
Remember bittersweet kisses
Stolen 'neath the cherry trees.
Remember raindrops falling,
Invading a lover's bed.
Remember soft, sweet nothings,
Whispered at a lover's head.
Remember night's enchantment,
Sleeping flowers, smelling sweet;
Remember all those nights
As lovers, you would meet.
Remember all the love
You gave to keep him here,
And remember when he left
How you wanted him so near.
See, the clouds have darkened,
And the grass is turning gray;
The rain becomes your tears
On a cold and endless day.
