God's Seashore

BY CAROLE NICHOLS

As I close my eyes, hoping to sleep,
I send the Dream Keeper an urgent plea;
Out of all the visions at his command,
Send a very special dream to me.

Take me to a soft, sandy beach,
Let me smell the salt in the warm air;
Let my feet dig into the sun-kissed sand,
And let me feel myself be really there.

Let me see lush palms sway in the breeze,
As the sun sinks low over the sea;
In the rainbowed hues of reflected clouds,
Let me feel God's hands touching me.

Let the gentle sound of the ebbing tide,
Wash stress and anguish from my mind;
Let me feel the waves lap round my feet,
As I survey this peaceful place He designed.

And let me feel His love fill me,
Let me feel His compassion wash my soul;
Let His sea of tears cleanse my heart,
Restore my faith and make me whole.

And when my dreaming time is over,
And I awaken to live in the world once more,
Let me remember how wonderous was the feel,
Of the healing power of God's seashore.
