Growing Up
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
It's hard I know to believe,
That I know what your going through;
Yet I've been there myself
When I was as young as you.
So many new emotions
Roll seething in your mind,
You're angry, but don't know why,
And your reasoning is often blind.
You don't understand why you hurt so much,
You can't understand why you cry,
And you feel like a stranger to yourself,
You don't even want to try.
You are frightened by the changes,
That happen every day,
It seems like your full of troubles
That will never go away.
But I promise you, my daughter,
Just as surely as the sun will rise
There'll come a time very soon
You'll see your life with different eyes.
All the pain will ease some,
All the awkwardness will go;
Your world will come right again,
All you have to do is grow.
And I will be here for you still,
When you want and need my arms;
A mother's love can never die,
Even growing up can't do it harm.
For my baby who is becoming a woman.
I love you, Rayna!
