My Angel

BY CAROLE NICHOLS

When life has been so cold,
Freezing the core of my weary soul,
I close my eyes and then I see
My special angel there for me.

When the loneliness gets to be too much,
He reaches out and I feel his touch.
He takes my hand and I can feel
A surging warmth as he starts to heal.

Pulling me into his gentle embrace,
Taking me to such a wonderous place.
My hands, my neck, my cheek, my hair;
I can feel my angel everywhere.

His wings surround me, keep me warm;
Enclosing, protecting me from all harm.
Filling me with his goodness and light,
His laughter full of sweet delight.

He stays with me on my reckless flight
Into uncharted dreams in the dead of night.
Rising from the ashes of my despair,
He brings me to life, makes my heart care.

My angel is there whenever I need
With a bounty of love on which I can feed.
Safe in his arms, filled with his glow;
Heaven is where we're bound, I know.
