BY CAROLE NICHOLS
You appeared to me, almost like a dream,
At a time my life was cheerless and grey;
Slipped quietly in to stand by my side,
Sending a bubble of infinite kindness my way.
I felt the warmth of your fingertips,
As they gently, but firmly raised my chin;
You smiled and told me I was worthwhile,
I found I could hold my head up again.
You gave me back my self-esteem,
As I looked into the warmth of your eyes;
I saw in their depth how you felt about life,
Nothing was hidden, no deceit, no lies.
You showed me how to believe again,
You gave me the courage to stand alone;
You thawed and melted the ice in my soul,
Gave me back a feeling I thought was gone.
You gave me something so special,
The comforting presence of a friend;
Your honesty shown, bright and real,
On your belief in me, I could depend.
I've come so far since that dark, dreary day,
From this course you gave, I'll not depart;
What could I give that could ever equal this;
I'll give all that I have; I give you my heart.
