Wings of an Angel
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
The eyes of heaven are upon you,
With each twinkling of a star;
They glimmer and shimmer in the night,
While they watch you from afar.
But the wings of an angel surrounds us,
As we stumble through this life;
If you let him, he will sooth you,
When your soul is filled with strife.
You can feel them in the sunshine,
The touch of them warm on your skin;
You can feel them in the gentle breeze,
As it ruffles your hair now and then.
You can feel them in the raging storm,
Shielding you from the stinging rains;
Acting as a buffer, lending support,
Protecting you from life's bitter pains.
When you travel has been too long,
They offer a place for your head to rest;
When you soul is hungry and so cold,
They hold a wealth of love's harvest.
They restore your hope, refuel your dreams,
They give you belief in a better day;
They give you the strength to carry on,
And they'll never, ever go away.
