Devil in My Touch

BY CAROLE NICHOLS

Rock-a-bye gently,
Sleep to a sweet song.
Sleep in your innocence;
For it's where you belong.

Never should you
Ever have to know
The troubles of this world
In which you must grow.

Lord, bless you love
And don't let me hurt you;
Or show you life's corruptions
For I am evil, too.

And though I love you so,
I may cause you sorrow;
For I am not perfect.
It could happen tomorrow.

So sleep sweetly love;
Let me kiss your brow.
I'll say a little prayer
And leave you for now.

Sleep in your innocence;
I love you so much.
Lord, please don't let her feel
The devil in my touch.
