Into the Sun
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
I can see the sun a-rising,
It looks like such a lovely day;
No storm clouds on the horizen,
Perhaps the sun is here to stay.
The rays it casts are golden,
Takes the darkness away from me;
Helps me understand that black place,
Has nothing there for me to see.
The sunlight sends a message clear,
What was too good to be true was a lie;
Was never good enough to be be true,
Not worthy of tears or even a sigh.
I think I'll take a walk, now,
Into the sun and see what's there;
I might just find something to hold to,
I might find someone for whom to care.
Oh, how I love to feel the sun's warmth,
And the touch of joy it brings to my skin;
What a pleasant surprise to find myself here,
I can't wait for the adventure to begin.
