Love Lies Waiting

BY CAROLE NICHOLS

Such a wonderous feeling to lie here,
Bodies touching, lips to lips;
Barely brushing as they whisper,
A soft sweet word that quietly slips.

Your hands brush the hair from my face,
To feather kisses on my brow;
I feel the things you cannot say,
It moves my heart to tears, somehow.

What's here is more than passion,
It's a joining of two souls;
The feelings reach to gently heal
In mystic waves that make us whole.

What we see in the other's eyes,
When we lie here close, this way;
Is a reflection of what we each feel,
And the wonder of what has come this day.

This holding gives a cautious joy,
And something deeper we can't yet touch;
Waiting there just outside the heart,
Waiting to fall in it's beating clutch.
