Love Found a Home

BY CAROLE NICHOLS

You crept so softly, silently in,
I didn't know you had found a home;
All I knew was you were my haven,
Whenever I felt lost and alone.

It seems you read me all too well,
You understood when I froze or ran;
It wasn't freedom I wanted so much,
I just couldn't bear to be hurt again.

You believed and dreamed so many things,
Passed them on from you to me;
How did you look into my soul,
Find those things that I wouldn't see.

Why were you willing to take a chance,
When so much of me was uncertain?
All I know is you've given me,
The joy of love without the hurting.

I didn't want to love you or anyone,
Settling down wasn't part of my plan;
So I ran till I ran straight to your arms,
For the first time, I think I understand.

So when I come to you in the early morn,
Just for the comfort I find at your side;
It feels to me as if love's found a home,
And if home is here, I will not hide.
