BY CAROLE NICHOLS
The rise and fall of your chest,
As you lie there in peaceful sleep;
Holds a special, tender, loving heart,
A good strong heart, with feelings deep.
And though you are a man, full grown,
With the vices and passions of mortal men;
The innocence seen in your face, right now,
Amazes and awes me to no end.
It's said that the truth is revealed,
In slumber, when defenses leave you bare;
And what I see now resembles an angel,
And it humbles me some to know you care.
I touch your skin to feel it's warmth,
Carefully, so not to disturb your rest;
You're real and you're here and you held me,
Close to that wonderful heart in your chest.
For a moment in time you let me feel,
Something so special it can't be defined;
And the gift that you give me, free from ties,
Comes straight from that angel heart, so kind.
So I lie here, watching you as you sleep,
Thankful, so thankful that you exist;
That I felt the purity of your soul,
I know what it's like to be angel kissed.
