From Your Lips to Mine
BY CAROLE NICHOLS
The rain is falling round us,
And the sound of it's beating
An echo of your strumming heart
With your sighs are competing.
We lie there in the rain's caress,
Surrounded by the wet and heat,
A drop of rain from your lips to mine,
Nothing on earth can taste so sweet.
I'll think of you each time it rains,
How your loving warmth dispelled the chill,
Rain pooling from your lips to mine,
We drank until our souls were filled.
And together we walked silent, replete,
In the rain-soaked grass after the storm,
Feeling what passed from your lips to mine,
Sweet memories and your arms keeping me warm.
